WHAT ROLE HAS YOU MOTHER PLAYED IN YOUR SCHOLASTIC CAREER?
My mother has always stressed the importance of me remaining focused on obtaining my education. She is constantly pushing me to have good grade, stressing student comes before athlete. Completing College has al- ways been her goal for me. I owe a lot to my mother regarding my education, whether it be her constant reminders about completing my homework assignments, or being more discipline with my study habits.
WHAT PRIMARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL DID YOU ATTEND?
I attended Harrington Sound Primary School, and Whitney Middle School
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT SCHOOL?
After graduating from Whitney Middle School, I attended George Jenkins High School in Lakeland, Florida for my freshman year (Grade 9), then I attended the Calverton School for my junior year (Grade 10) in Hunting- town, Maryland. In September, I’ll be joining St. Andrew’s College in Canada for sophomore year (Grade 11).
HOW WAS THE TRANSITION FROM BERMUDA TO WASHINGTON DC?
During the summer of 2021 we had a big decision to make regarding school and football. This was primarily because I left Bermuda in 2019 after Middle School, and I hadn’t completed my GCSE’s, this meant staying within the US education system was a better option being that I had completed my Freshman year of High School in Florida. Coach David Bascome was instrumental in introducing me to the Calverton School and their DC Calver-ton Soccer Program. From an education point of view, boarding school is challenging regarding balancing the demands of school and football. But even with one year under my belt in Florida, moving from a public High School to a private Boarding School, it was a real challenge. The school work was harder, my football training and competition was also tougher. Not having my parents around was also a factor, I had to rely on myself and become more independent. I think I have grown because of this opportunity. It has been better for my educationally and with my football to leave Bermuda when I did.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL?
Math and science are my favourite subjects.
WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR SOCCER COACH?
While at DC Calverton, our Coach was Jason Boxx, then during our EDP League campaign we were coached by Coach Brian Martin and Coach Charles Russell. I’ll be attending St. Andrew’s College in Aurora, Ontario, Canada this fall to complete my last two years of High School. My new Coach will be Adrian Bradbury.
WHO HAS INSPIRED YOU TO PLAY THE GAME OF SOCCER?
Like many boys, I started football when I was young, and you know Ber-mudians love football, so I kind of fell in love with football like everyone else did. As a kid, even today, I have always been a huge fan of Lionel Messi. Most of my childhood pictures you’ll see me in a Barcelona Lionel Messi jersey. From a Bermuda perspective, players like Dante Leverock and Nahki Wells have been inspirational for me.
DO YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC ROLE MODELS THAT YOU LOOK UP TO?
My dad has always been a huge role model for me. He’s disciplined, hard- working, and always does his best, no matter what. He’s worked hard to instil certain values in me to help me be a better person in all aspects of my life.
WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO STUDY IN UNIVERSITY?
I’m interested in studying Sports Science. Obviously I want to play professionally, if that doesn’t happen or after my playing career I want to be involved in sports and to be able to make a contribution to the talented kids coming behind me. So obtaining a College Degree will help me prepare for life after football. Yes, the goal is to secure a football scholarship to attend University.
WHICH UNIVERSITY WILL YOU CHOOSE TO ATTEND?
I don’t know yet, we’ll see what offers I get over the next two years. I’m open to playing for a D1 school, but I am open to either a D2 or D3 school, what matters to me is whether or not the school has the degree program I’m looking for, and whether or not I’ll get sufficient playing time on the team.
BECAUSE OF YOUR TALENT, WILL YOU LOOK TO TURN PROFESSIONAL AT SOME STAGE?
Absolutely, I want to play professionally if the opportunity is given to me, and I’m willing to work hard for that opportunity. I also want to represent Bermuda at the senior level.
WHAT POSITION DO YOU PLAY, AND IS THER ANYONE CUR- RENTLY THAT YOYU FASHION YOUR GAME AROUND?
My preferred position is central attacking midfield, players like Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Ozil are players I like to fashion my style of play. I have also enjoyed playing on the Left Wing, I guess depending on the opposition and game situation, I can play in either of those roles.
AS A YOUNG CHRISTIAN MAN, WHICH CHURCH DO YOU ATTEND?
I attend New Life Church of the Nazarene my whole life given my dad is the Pastor. My faith and the principles and values that Church has taught me, play a huge role in my life. While in Boarding School and playing football, physically attending Church is not readily available; however, I do my best to keep God in my life.
